Austin is currently an Assistant Principal at Austin Academy for Excellence in Garland ISD. He has served as a K-6 Elementary Music Specialist, 2nd grade teacher, 5th grade science and social studies teacher, Instructional Coach, Admin Intern, and Advanced Academics Competition Coordinator.
In 2015, he was recognized by Texas PTA as the Elementary Teacher of the Year and in 2018 was a finalist for the HEB Rising Star award.
Austin is passionate about serving all students with a focus on creativity, innovation, and cooperation. Austin is married with two kids and enjoys spending time at home, working out, and listening to others stories. Austin is deaf/hard of hearing and passionate about sharing his story of challenges he faces in a world designed for the hearing.
