This presentation will:
-share the story of "Take Me Home" and deliver a student view of what it's like to become bilingual in America
- provide background information on our EL students in the U.S/Laws protecting them
- model how to use tomorrow resources such as Interpretalk, Talking Points, TRANSACT, C-Pen Readers, FlipGrid, Speech to Textify, and Google/iPhone tricks for staff and leaders to communicate with EL families immediately
-teach the 10 essential questions to ask when receiving an EL student
-supply a platform of questions to consider in order to team up with support teams to relieve fears of working with EL students
-engage attendees in an immersion activity to experience what it feels like to be an EL
-celebrate the work teachers are currently doing nationwide.

Its ultimate goal is to ask teaching teams to do better: to flip the script and embrace the idea that when they are meeting a person who is learning English, to always treat that time in their life as an asset, and not a handicap.
