2022 TEACH BETTER CONFERENCE

The 4 W’s presentation is a walk through my personal journey of becoming the best version of myself. I originally gave a talk centered around these 4 practices to our National Honors Society. Since that time I have been inspired to share the message with as many people as possible. Why? Because these 4 W’s have radically changed my life. The first W asks the question: What are you feeding your mind? W number 2: What is your foundation. The third W asks: Who are you leading? The last W asks: Who are you serving? These 4 W’s require me, and challenges others, to live a life of reflection and intentionality. They hold me accountable. Every day I ask myself if the content I am feeding my mind is helping me become a better husband, father, or educator. The second W is a reminder that in the midst of storms in life and in our profession I must have a firm foundation. My foundation is stabilized by my WHY.  Who am I leading is the next question I ask on a daily basis. Staying mindful of my role as a husband, father, and teacher keeps me aware of how every word I say, and every action I am involved in screams loudly to those I am around. I must lead with integrity. Lastly, when I ask myself who I am serving it is an immediate reminder that life is about service to others. On those days I am not “feeling it” I serve even more. The 4 W’s is my way of staying accountable, and my way of encouraging others to live life on purpose with purpose. It aligns perfectly with the value of “being better today than yesterday, better tomorrow than today!”
