We Can't Do it Alone: Engaging Parents in Digital Leadership

As educators, we are limited in terms of what social media we can use in our classrooms, and yet we know that students are using social media at younger ages and with greater frequency than ever before. Digital drama often impacts our ability to meet our curriculum expectations. Our kids need mentorship when it comes to digital citizenship and digital and media literacy but we can't always provide it within the limitations of our classroom. We are also bound by privacy laws. In this talk, Jennifer will share ideas for how to bring parents into the conversation around technology and social media. We will reflect on the many ways we engage parents in low-prep, high impact ways, and look at resources available to support teachers as well as strategies which have worked for me.The goal: connect parents, nurture their own understanding of digital leadership through your students and ultimately help support your students and your learning community at large.
